Getting A Short Understanding Of Telecom Billing Solution

There is only a small amount of people that fully understand the information associated with telecom billing system. There is a vast amount of information that the general public does not get exposed to about the topic itself. This can make the topic seem very intimidating for most people to discuss. However, there are some basic factors that should be summarized for most people to understand in order to make the subject easier to discuss.
OSS is actually the abbreviation for operational support system. This system is only used by telecommunication providers and their businesses. The term is meant to refer to various network systems and inventory that is associated with it. You can also use it to refer to components of a network which needs to be configured or other provisioning services.
It should not, however, be confused with BSS. BSS stands for business support system. The term is fairly more recent and is somewhat new. It refers to businesses that deal with payments and taking orders. This would also deal with customer interaction and bill procession. There is a difference between BSS and OSS, but it should be noticed that both terms are used together most often. This is because they interlock in interactions.
Before 1970, almost all telecom OSS activities were being done by individuals. After the year passed, it was realized that a lot of these things could be done with technology instead of the use of human labor. So telecommunication companies decided to created computer systems that would be able to take care of many of these tasks.
Due to this choice, Unix and C programming language were created as a result. There were many other variations of technology which occurred as well and can still be seen in the world today. However, the systems that were originally used for OSS could not be networked together. This meant that tasks had to be completed separately by the systems.
Since information could not be sent directly and every system had a different task, this meant that there had to be an individual that would pass the information between the two. Generally, there was someone would pass information between both systems via switches and plugs. As time progressed, this eventually ended when true networking was created and discovered.
Although OSS has matured and changed greatly over the years, it is still very expansive and also expensive to maintain. It has been said that one of the main goals of the overall telecommunications industry is to create an OSS that will be smaller, more organized, and less expensive to maintain. There is always constant work to try to improve this production.
What is listed here is the most simple explanation for the main points and the general history. The system is always expanding and evolving as time progresses. The telecom companies hope that as technology continues to progress, telecom billing OSS will transform into something better than what it is currently.
