HP Color LaserJet 3800 - A Great Tool To Help Your Office

By

Working With The Machine

Getting a handle on the HP Color LaserJet 3800 printer is easy enough to do, especially after taking a few seconds to give this very nice networkable laser jet printer an opportunity to show what it can do. Like many HP printer products made for networks, this particular machine features nice print speeds, good durability and rock solid Hewlett-Packard reliability backed by a nice warranty. There's very little to dislike about this product, in other words, especially not the pages produced by the LaserJet 3800 laser toners.

When it comes to what the 3800 can do in terms of print output, 22 pages per minute is the norm, and this is actually one of the 3800's bigger selling points, because many laser jet printers aren't nearly as fast. The pages that emerge will be in color or black-and-white, and they'll come out in about 13 seconds once the print job has been sent by the computer user to the printer itself. This low tasking time is excellent for printer of its price range.

Durable

For anyone interested in the durability of the printer, this particular model is good for around 65,000 pages per month of printing before needing very basic maintenance, which is an excellent rate for a printer that is marketed for a very nice price. It's a laser jet model, meaning that it will make use of four separate cartridges (black, cyan, yellow and magenta), which differentiates it from a laser toner cartridge model, so keep that in mind.

Processor

Processing capabilities in the 3800 printer are quite good, and HP has supplied a 533 MHz chip that is extremely nimble and light on its feet. It will be able to take a great many separate print tasks, all coming into the printer at the same time, separate and collate them and then deliver what is asked, when it is asked. HP is known for its network printer capabilities, and this one delivers on almost every front.

The quality of the product that emerges from this particular Hewlett-Packard printer is also par for the course for printers in this market segment, meaning that the sheet comes out at 600 x 600 dpi resolution. For most print jobs and small or medium networks, this will be more than acceptable and the product itself would be sharp, crisp and clear. That's about all that most networks can ask for.

The printer itself can hold a total of three paper trays, with a total of 850 sheets of paper able to be held within those trays. Additionally, it can handle up to 10 envelopes, though there is no automated envelope feeder -- which really isn't a problem because the printer itself is quite easy to maneuver when it's time to have an envelope printed out.

Memory

Memory in the HP 3800 is acceptable at 96 MB of RAM. Of course, it can be upgraded to 544 MB, which should be far more than needed for most any small business workgroup. At 544 MB, the print job would have to be extremely large. Windows-based operating systems are all handled by a 3000, and it can even handle Mac OS systems with equal ease.

Totaling up what the HP Color LaserJet 3800 printer can do is actually a fairly pleasing task because Hewlett-Packard has made a networkable workgroup printer that is easy to handle. It comes at a reasonable price and is fairly durable and functional in everything that it can do, as well. Most workgroups would feel themselves lucky to have this particular model.

One of the things that this HP printer does well is produce gorgeously clear prints. No one will be surprised that this is a quality product, however, the competitive prices offered by online vendors for replacement toner should come as a pleasant revelation.
